With his oxygen tank in tow, Bobby Keith gave the final pregame speech of his life on March 7, 2016 to the Clay County basketball team. The address was delivered before the Tigers’ regional championship game against South Laurel. Clay County was coached that season by Robert Marcum, one of Keith’s former players. Marcum only brought Keith into the locker room to speak to the team twice that season. The first time was before an early-season game against Ballard, and the second was on this night, the night of the regional championship. It took every ounce of strength the ailing coach had to deliver one final locker room speech, as he had so many times before to the fathers, uncles, and even grandparents of the boys who were suited up that night.
